A) to install macro in Data Explorer Software:
- start Data Explorer Software
- open Visual Basics Editor from Tools>Visual Basics Editor
- right-mouse-click on Modules
- select insert>Module
- open file macro.txt from downloaded software and copy/paste text into the newly opened Visual Basics Editor window
- save module
- close Editor
- in Data Explorer, select View>Toolbar>Macros (there should now be a new toolbar for macros, looks like three connected squares, blue color)
- select Tools>Assign Macro..., click on "Macro Button" Macro 1 and select "Macro to run:" "RunSequencer.RunSequencer" (there should now be a new button available in the toolbar, green color)
- the macro should now be installed.

B) to use macro in Data Explorer to export .t2d MS data files to .txt files:
- start Data Explorer software (if not already open)
- select the green button in the toolbar that opens "Sequencer"
- click "Add" and select all .t2d files from your MS run (i.e. 192 files from the folder where you exported your data to)
- check "Macro"
- select i.e. "Module1.Export_mass_area_res_sn" from pull-down menu 
- click on "run" (Data Explorer will then open all .t2d spectra files and write a .txt file for each one of them, these new .txt files can be used in the "16" folder with iXLINK.pl
